About

Helping organisations develop the coaching skills they need across their business to drive performance

We do what we do because not only do we find that people often limit their own potential through a lack of understanding of what is possible, they’re also unclear on how to best support the learning of others – usually called coaching!! We love to keep things simple and spend an unhealthy amount of time looking at the evidence behind where ability comes from and developing practical ways to help others reach their potential. Our passion is to share learning to help create environments where personal growth is a daily habit.

Tony Stanger

Tony represented Scotland 52 times at Rugby Union and is their joint record try scorer of all time.  He was part of the victorious British Lions Tour to South Africa in 1997 and scored arguably the most famous try in Scottish rugby history to win the Grand Slam in 1990.

He has a 1st class Honours degree in applied sports science and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Edinburgh and worked for 7 years as a professional coach for Leeds Rugby Academy and London Irish RFC. He has vast experience in the world of elite sport and was most recently Head of Talent at the Scottish Institute of Sport – a job specialising in understanding how to maximise the potential of limited talent pools.

He has a strong family focus and loves challenges and the life experiences they offer. When he’s not working (and sometimes when he should be!) his hobby is using what he knows about talent to maximise his golfing potential.

Bid Stanger - Director Stanger Pro

Bid Stanger

Bid Stanger is a very proud Kiwi, like most New Zealanders she has a real passion for sport.  A successful junior athlete who found the transition to senior level challenging and difficult she is intrigued by what more can be done to help people reach their potential.

Using what she has learned over the past decade her focus is to improve the quality of volunteer coaching and the challenges faced at participation level.  Her passion to motivate young people in developing a lifelong approach to sport and physical activity is high on her agenda.  She is actively involved in coaching a range of sports, both team and individuals and is a big contributor in supporting the learning of other coaches and support staff in her community.

An ever-willing club volunteer she is also a Team Manager and is currently working with National Performance Age Group squads within Scottish Swimming & British Swimming.

She juggles her role at Stanger Pro with supporting her 3 sporty kids along with sneaking in as much outdoor physical activity as time permits.
