Three useful questions to help you coach unhelpful behaviours..

A key part of effective coaching is understanding how our emotions and thoughts impact our behaviours.

As it’s not always easy to recognise some of the hidden (subconscious) forces that drive our behaviour, I think it can be useful to ask very specific questions to help people (including ourselves) understand some of the more subtle things that might be at play. For example…

  1. How much of what you do is influenced by what you believe other people might think (not what they actually do.)?
  2. How well does this way of thinking serve you in life?
  3. If caring less about what other people might think serves you better, how would you do it?

There are lots more examples of these specific types of questions but I’ll leave you with this one (which I think impacts us all!) to get you started!
